Inspiration Basics

Inspirations are one-shot bonuses that are periodically received as rewards for defeating opponents, rescuing people, or completing missions. They come in three "sizes", or categories of effectiveness. The smallest forms can also be purchased when meeting with a contact in person, and the medium forms can be received as PvP rewards in Siren's Call. Large forms used to be obtainable in the form of Kora Fruit, but this is no longer the case (Kora missions now give medium inspirations). See the section on Kora Fruit, below.

Characters start with an inspiration tray capable of carrying 4 inspirations, which is improved first to 8 inspirations, then 10, then 15, then finally 20. [Level chart needed here.]

WARNING: The values of the accuracy and defense inspirations listed in their descriptions are WRONG (confirmed June 6, 2006). _Castle_ has claimed that a rebalancing is on his to-do list. The values below are the ones correct as of this writing.

Inspiration Types and Names

Accuracy (Yellow) - increases your accuracy when you attack, and your perception.

  • Insight (small): 7.5% ToHit Buff for 60 seconds
  • Keen Insight (medium): 18.75% ToHit Buff for 60 seconds
  • Uncanny Insight (large): 33% ToHit Buff for 60 seconds

Damage (Red) - increases the damage you inflict when you attack

  • Enrage (small): 25% Damage Buff for 60 seconds
  • Focused Rage (medium): 33% Damage Buff for 60 seconds
  • Righteous Rage (large): 50% Damage Buff for 60 seconds

Defense (Purple) - increases your defense, making it harder for you to be hit

  • Luck (small): 12.5% Defense Buff for 60 seconds
  • Good Luck (medium): 25% Defense Buff for 60 seconds
  • Phenomenal Luck (large): 33% Defense Buff for 60 seconds

Endurance (Blue) - recovers a portion of your endurance

  • Catch a Breath (small): regain 25 points of endurance
  • Take a Breather (medium): regain 33 points of endurance
  • Second Wind (large): regain 50 points of endurance

Health (Green) - heals a portion of your health

  • Respite (small): heals 25% of your health
  • Dramatic Improvement (medium): heals 33% of your health
  • Resurgence (large): heals 50% of your health

Note: This heal is measured in a percentage of your base health, before the bonuses from Accolades or powers such as Dull Pain

Mez Resistance (Light Purple) - breaks out of most status effect attacks, and gives you resistance for a short time

  • Break Free (small): Provides 30 seconds of resistance
  • Emerge (medium): Provides 60 seconds of resistance
  • Escape (large): Provides 90 seconds of resistance

Note: the Medium Inspiration of this type that can be obtained as a reward from Siren's Call is actually the old-style version called Discipline. It provides 120 seconds of resistance, but does not break out of holds, sleeps, or stuns.

Resurrection (Cyan) - returns you to consciousness without a trip to the hospital and protects from subsequent XP debt for a few seconds.

  • Awaken (small): If you are defeated, you can wake up with 1/4 of your hit points. You will, however, be Disoriented, have no Endurance, and unable to Recover Endurance for 10 seconds, but you will be protected from XP Debt for 10 seconds.
  • Bounce Back (medium): If you are defeated, you can wake up with 1/2 of your hit points. You will, however, be Disoriented, have no Endurance, and unable to Recover Endurance for 10 seconds, but you will be protected from XP Debt for 15 seconds.
  • Restoration (large): If you are defeated, you can wake up with 3/4 of your hit points. You will, however, have no Endurance, and be unable to recover Endurance for 10 seconds, but will not be Disoriented, and you will be protected from XP Debt for 20 seconds.

Kora Fruit

Kora Fruit are inspiration rewards from missions in the Shadow Shard. Up until shortly before Issue 7, in these missions, glowing fruit could be clicked on to receive a single large inspiration. They were changed to provide a medium inspiration instead, to prevent them from being storable in bases.
