Divine Divinity:Food

Food can be eaten up to a certain, unspecified amount in any given time period (usually two large food items and a small, but it's not entirely consistent, and the time limit isn't known) to provide Vitality or Mana restoration, or temporary stat bonuses or penalties. Int bonuses are mostly worthless, as they only increase maximum Mana without actually adding that mana as well -- but by the same token, Int penalties are insignificant if you have used the corresponding amount of mana already (it reduces the cap only without reducing your current amount). The exception is the Honey Jar, which increases Int by 5, and then adds 50 mana, which can fill in some of the gap (though it's still better used when your mana is depleted). Fish does not work the same way. Since all alcohol ends up trading a trivial amount of bonus damage for reduced ability to hit and dodge, it should almost always be sold.

Bottles of water sell for more than glasses of water (40 gold vs. 1 gold), but have the same effect.
